Peace Lily

Peace Lily

This houseplant classic got its claim to fame when NASA put it on the list of  Top 10 Household Air Cleaning Plants. And it was all up from there! The clean air factor, along with easy care, and allure of indoor blooms has made this calla-lily look alike a staple houseplant. With it’s low maintenance, the Peace Lily is ideal for newbies.

General care: Temps between 65-85, humidity is a plus but not a necessity. Flowers may develop green instead of white on some occasions. Easily over watered.

Light: Low, medium, or bright indirect light is ideal for a Peace lily. Too much light causes leaf burn, but too little light and the Peace Lily will not flower.

Water: Let top top of the soil dry out in between watering. One of the benefits of having a Peace Lily is that it communicates when it needs water, look out for a slight droop in the leaves. This means it's time to water. If using a moisture meter, keep within the 3-5 range.

When does it eat? Feed with a general purpose plant feed at half strength every other month during the growing season. Too much feed can burn the leaf tips!

Toxicity: Toxic to dogs and cats.

Do:

-Prune away spent flowers to encourage more blooms

-Let the top layer of soil dry out in between watering.

Don’t:

-Place in direct sun

-Overwater, or leave in standing water
