ZZ Plant Care Guide

If the ZZ plant had a personality type, it would be an independent introvert.

Native to the dry grasslands and forests of East Africa, the ZZ is known to thrive under conditions that most plants would not find ideal.

Perfect for a busy bee lifestyle and the first time plant parent who wants a plant that will do best with minimal care and supervision.

GENERAL CARE

Very low maintenance; 55 to 85 degree temperatures.

LIGHT

The ZZ can thrive and adjust to any low, medium, or bright light room situation.

It can grow in any room in an interior space, just keep it away from direct sun.

Ideal for offices, and rooms that don’t have a lot of light.

WATER

Less is better with this indoor champ.

Water once every 2-3 weeks during the summer months and once a month during the winter.

Pro-tip - Empty the overflow from the saucer so it doesn’t get left in standing water!

It’s likely that the only way this plant will bite the dust is by being overwatered.

The ZZ plant feels right at home in the dry range on the moisture meter.

WHEN DOES IT EAT

Once or twice during the summer is ideal, but not necessary. Do not feed during the winter months.

TOXICITY

Slightly toxic to pets and people.

Causes stomach and mouth irritation if ingested.

DO

Wipe dust off leaves occasionally; keep leaves dry.

DON’T

Over water or leave in standing water; don’t put it in direct sunlight!
